    Gas Gauge

    Hi All

After finally getting my 1962 vette on the road, I stopped to fill the gas tank up. I noticed after driving it away, the gauge showed 1/2 full..But when I applied the brake, the needle went to full. When my foot came off, it went to 1/2 again..Everything is new. Wire harness, sending unit etc. Is this a ground problem? If it is, what would the brake pedal have to do with it?Where would the problem be?
    Thanks for any help......John

I Believe a Major Part of the Problem...

...is that the ground wire running to the rear on these cars is inadaquate to handle the gas gauge (a quite delicate instrument), the tail lights, brake & turn filaments & license plate light. The older C1's, had an additional ground wire that attached to the frame at the rear of the car. That was deleted about 59/60/61. Once I did a '62 test and added a rear ground to the frame. Pretty much eliminated the problem you describe. Anyway, that's my take on it...
