    Dead battery?

Well, went to start my 66 yesterday and it acted like it was going to turn over then nothing...caput .. doesn't turn over in fact gets nothing at all,no radio even when I turn the key to the on position. I put my battery charger to it and it just seemed to snap from charging to start every 20 seconds or so? and wires got hot so removed it from the battery posts. put some battery cables from my pathfinder to the vett and after a while was able to get some clicking from underneath that's about it. Time for a new battery I guess.

Battery, Cable connections, bulkhead connectior, most likely. The pull on the battery charger indicates a big draw, like maybe the starter is engaged, but are you sure you had it hooked up to the correct posts?

Well the schumacher charger is simplistic to say the least, didn't read the instructions completely but took it for granted the red to negative black to positive wouldn't get me in trouble.

        Gary,

I hope that you're kidding about the polarity. That is reversed!

            Hi Gary

Check to make sure all your connections are tight on the starter solinoid and the ground wire is tight where ever it's connected to. That might be the problem.
            Good Luck...John

Was the battery I installed a new one and car started right up, I left it in the car over the winter (clock was not working) so I figured if I lose it I'll replace it as it was in the car when I bought it. But after 4-5 months in storage it started right up around the end of April when I went to check on it..I was surprised but it may have taken its toll even though it was in a climate controlled area.
