Is there a way to tell if an ashtray is original or not on a 63 corvette? and also isn't there a "p" or an "o" somewhere on the lightswitch in a glovebox to tell if it is original as well? thanks for any input.

Joe, which one is the 63??? They both have AAC stamped on the other side.
The one on the left.. They are different..

Joe the one on the right was in my 63 when I bought the car 9 years ago. The wear and tear on the outside and the typical discoloration on the inside from cigarettes makes me believe it it an oldy and a goody.
Let's see if others comment on the originality.
On the glove box light, do you have a picture to post? I hate to pull mine out.

Joe,
I agree with Harry. The one on the left in his pic is the correct style for much, if not all of the 63 model year. The design with the double/split tabs replaced the single tab design and continued through the end of the C2 run.
I have no idea when the actual change occured in production and the part number remained the same for both designs.Comment
