1957 rear axle interchangeability

Hi Guys
I am based in Europe and running a vet here has its problems but when you fire it up and hit the road it is all worthwhile
The problem I have is that the rear axle casing near the hubs appears to be damaged and I was thinking of replacing the whole rear axle casing
Does an axle casing from the early chevrolet product range fit directly onto the rear end If so what year should I be looking for I hoping that I can then fit the differential straight into the replacement casing
Any help or advice would be much appreciated

I see you have a 57 Vett , so the banjo or axle casing your talking about is the same as 55 to 57 CAR but you will need to relocate the spring supports in a little . The pumpkin or third member will fit from your 57 Corvette in a car banjo and axles. Hope this is what your asking.?

What appears to be damaged? Can you post a picture? Is anything leaking? Does it track straight? Unless there is a real problem you might get into more trouble than it's worth. Changing the whole axle assembly is not that hard but what if the "new" one is worse than the old one. Are they available where you are? My neighbor has a 57 assembly but I got to believe shipping would be on a bit much. I'm a firm believer in "if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it" Just my 2 cents
