    67 turn signal switches again

First let me say you guys are better than the "car talk" show on the radio!

Now back to the turn signal switch. I started a conversation on this back on July 8 and appreciate the comments. Sitting on my desk next to me right now are the original WHITE swtich and wires, etc from my car...which doesn`t hold left turn signal in on position and that is why it is on my desk right now.

In the other corner is the part i just received, which seems to work nicely, however, i expected it to be a used "original". It is PINK. It clearly appears to have been in a car for a while but seems to be a nice used part.

Both parts have a paper tag around the wires with the letters "BPM". My original has a white paper tag with black letters. The PINK assembly has a red paper tag with black letters.

The pink part has the letters "BPM" on the plastic PINK base and a number "5" on the PINK plastic part that moves for the turn signal. The BPM and the "5" do not appear on my white original part.

The wires are same or similar colored although not in the same sequence from right to left...or left to right, whatever.

Both parts have a black clip on the end.

I wonder what BPM stands for? Why is one marked BPM on the plastic and the other not, yet both have the BPM paper tag around the wires? Was the same part used on 1968 corvettes? If so, were the originals in the 68`s PINK? Am i to understand that the PINK is clearly not original but a correct replacement from long ago?

I am going out now to put the PINK one in because it works.

I replaced mine about 25 years ago and it was a delco unit and was pink. It broke about 2 months later. I havent fixed it since. It is my understanding that the repos from the parts lady are better than the originals and made by the company that made the originals.

I believe the "BPM" is for Boyne Products, who made at least some of the original production switch assemblies.

But what is the issue? I have two of the current repros from Shee-Mar and Lectric Limited. Both are Boyne BPM. And they are pink/red. The original whites were Delco. Judging folks will never see them. Why are you so concerned? As I understand the market for these, just be glad to have one. I saw them on EBay last winter for $350+.
