    Tony-----

There must be a lot of people around with more money than they know what to do with. However, even if I were a billionaire I wouldn't spend $26,500+ for a set of 1967 bolt-on wheels even if they were NOS with original NOS tires. I would regard doing that as "degrading" or "humiliating".

I'll bet they go higher. Not because I know anything about the wheels, but because there are 4 separate bidders in the high dollar range and there is still over 3 days to go. There are sure to be some last second bids, if not new bidders.

I know a reasonably smart guy that paid over $30,000 for a similar set up. I agree it seems crazy..but when you start to talk about $200,000 cars..the dynamics change. Only a couple guys paid the $3000 upcharge for the 69 ZL1 engine for a $6000 car.

I also know a guy that paid $30,000 for a set of 63 Z06 big brakes.

With ..vintage Corvette racecars now bringing $1 million plus..it puts a different take on the hobby.

Then I will stick with my 1967 driver. Those prices are sick. I bought the whole car for less.

Agreed my L79 67 was less than 25K 4 yrs ago. A market correction is due. History does repeat itself. Think back to 91-93 when the Big Blocks went bust from 75-90K down to 40-50K. When the stocks .Coms went belly up like a dead fish the alledged investors showed up for tangibles. Muscle, Vettes, art, R.E. etc. Course reality shows and SpeedVision auctions fueled the uneducated. I'm not sure if Buffett said Cash is King. But, I'd rather sit back and watch knuckel-draggers pay 26K for wheels!! Could prove to be an interesting next couple quarters.

i still consider and treat it as a hobby as do the great majority of NCRS members who wouldn't pay 26.6K for five sets of bolt-ons. regards, mike
