Well it looks like I might actually be able to attend this year so I was wondering if anyone could give advice on what day is the best day, when to get there, where to stay, etc.

I really don't know too much about what all goes on besides the swap meet, like is there a car for sale section, show car section, NCRS section, etc? I hope to see a correct 68-69 L-36 so that I can finaly see what the intake overspray should look like too.

The plan is to fly into Hamilton Ontario and then drive the rest of the way(about 6 1/2 hrs on map quest). I think the drive will be nice and this way if I see some of that oh so dangerous spray paint or pre-lube 6 that can't be shipped across the border, I'll be able to bring it back with me:) .

For hard to find parts or bargins before the Vendors buy them for resale be their Thursday morning at least 1/2 the vendors will be setting up or ready to sell.You will find the NCRS Gallery,groups of Corvettes by model or club,for sale cars, and an auction. Much more Corvette things than one can get done in a weekend but we all try to get through it one time.

Start calling motels now! There will be nothing close to Carlisle. Plan on about 30 to 60 miles from there. We drive 5 hours and stay about 30iles west of Carlisle. Go to there website and they will send you information packet in the mail.

1) The most parts will be available the first day, but the prices will be the highest with not much room for negotiation. If your looking for a particular part, I would suggest you don't buy the first one as prices even on the first day could vary between vendor. Do a quick tour of everything then come back to the vendor with the best price. Also, don't forget that you can enter the event the evening prior to the official opening.

2) The best prices are the last day but the selection will be limited.

3) Hotels in Carlisle go for a premium price, normally about 180 to 220 per night has been my experience. Carlisle is a great little town and the parade is great. To pick up a room under the $90.00 look closer to Harrisburg. You will also find a larger selection of restaurants. Book on line, sometimes the hotels miss the week on the Internet and you can still get a low price in Carlisle.

If you are also interested in antiques, there are several shops in the area. My wife usually drops me at the gate at 7:00 am and picks me up at 5:30 pm. This keeps me happy and her happy on the antique hunt.

1. It's huge. If you hustle, you'll be able to see about 1/3 of it in a 12 hour day. Less if you talk to people and rummage through boxes.

2. Bring a hat for the sun. Water. Comfortable shoes. Powder for areas that'll chafe with all the walking. Entrepeneurs will sell you cheap $1 rain coats if needed.

3. It's usually $5+ to park. Plan to park someplace so that you can bring your treasures out to the car so that you don't have to carry them around. As you go up and down the aisles, you'll come to the gates.

4. Traffic's a nightmare. 7 AM is peak.

5. The food at the stands looks gross. The food at the vendors in the building in the middle looks pretty good. The ATM there charges $4 for a fee.

6. Many groups have spaces where you can rest; leave your parts; meet friends; etc. Look them up in the program, or before you go.

7. Did I mention that it was huge?

I believe that NCRS has some rooms left in a block of rooms they reserved close to Carlisle. I believe the room rate is $119 per day. I got a phone call from an NCRS official informing of these rooms.

I have been able to arrange travel and motel rooms with new found friends met at a recent chapter judging event and will not be taking advantage of the opportunity.

As my life goes nothing is certain untill after it happens so rather than book a room I'll probably just try and get one outside of Carlisle like maybe Harrisburg when I get there.

I didn't realize there was so much to see so I'm really looking forward to it and maybe I'll get to put put some faces to the names on this forum.

I am thinking about the logistics of buying parts that won`t fit in my carryon bags (i.e 4 o5 wheels) for shipment back to the west coast. Are there shipment services at the event (i.e. UPS) to assist in getting parts back home?

Nope, there is no on-site shipping service, although you'd think that would be a terrific revenue opportunity for UPS or FedEx. There's a privately-owned "Mail Dock" store about 1/8-mile from Gate 3 at 1548 Spring Rd. in Carlisle, (717) 243-2756.
