    67 Big Block inner Fender

    Dear Board Members,

In a previous post, i recall there where holes, where the small block overflow tank was mounted. Could someone clarify if this is true, and the St Louis Assembly plant end product to the selling Dealership, had these holes on Big Block cars. Also the AIM is not specific, as to dimension locations of the mounting holes. Could someone provide the hole locations, if the above statements are found to be correct. I know a few of the members on this board worked in the plant in that era.

    Thanks for you help,

    Don

    Don,

The skirt, as received at the plant, had holes already punched for the small block supply tank. However, for use on big block cars, these holes were covered over, from the wheel/tire side, with bond material. You should be able to see small bumps of bond oozing out of these holes on the rear side of the panel.

Re: 67 Big Block inner Fender

Was the same true for 1966 big block? I have an inner fender with holes that I believe to be a replacement that was never filled.

Also, on the driver side, the JG says there should be 3 attachments for the wiring harness to clip in, but I only have two. Any indication on what location the 3 holes should be? I have one right by the the hood support, and one just up from the alternator.

      Thanks,
      Mark

        Mark,

The same is true for the holes on most 66 cars too, although very early production will be slightly different. I have the filled holes on a Nov built 66 car.

The JG is correct on the number of holes for the wiring retainers on the left skirt. There should be the two that you mentioned, plus another just about even with the rear screw that retains the voltage regulator.

          Michael,

Any way to get some hole locations, as my right inner fender has none. It's a real Big Block,Nov 66 built 67 vette. so possibly it was replaced at one time. If so who ever installed it, did an excellant job from the underside compared to the left side inner fender underside look, (Bonding ooze look around the bonding strips etc). I'am the 3rd owner, with total documentation. Would like to have it judged in the near future.

          Thanks always, mike

One more question....how far above the voltage regulator mounting screw are we talking?

            Thanks for your response.

              Mark,

Just measured the 66. It's exactly 3 11/16" from the C/L of the rear voltage reg mounting hole to the C/L of the wire harness strap hole.

The fore/aft C/L location is about 3/8" forward of the same voltage reg screw C/L.

Hopefully, these dim's didn't change for 67. Maybe someone with a 67 can verify?
