    trailing arm assembly finishes?

    Gents, 64 Coupe Questions,

What is the proper finish of the spindle bearing housing? Is it semi gloss, black same as T-arm?

Are drive shaft flanges natural or painted?

By the way what is the best source for these questions? (Aside from this board)

I have Noland's book, Chasis Restoration book and 64 judging guide. These do not seem to provide the answers. Pictures in Noland's bible are hard to tell from.

    Thanks Kyle

    Re: trailing arm assembly finishes?

    Kyle-----

The spindle support ("bearing housing") was painted more of a semi-flat black. They had very little gloss, at all. Machined surfaces were unpainted since the supports were component painted (i.e. painted prior to the machining operations). Most supports for C3 era cars were not painted, at all.

The trailing arms were painted a semi-gloss black; considerably glossier than the supports.

Driveshaft flanges were natural forged steel.
