65 body on - paint

i am currently repainting my frame - i was told to use krylon 1613 semifalt black by a corvette resoration shop - is this close to factory or is there something better - also what can i use to clean under body & wheel wells - from what i have seen - should be bare - no paint? -

It was originally painted with asphalt based paint. It can be obtained from Quanta (see link).

Interestingly, you can still see your job number in the pic. Looks like 379 or 329. That's something I would want to preserve.

The wheel wells had some blackout areas and sound deadener (undercoating). Check out you AIM for covered areas. If you clean the dirt off you'll see the spray areas for each.
The floors etc were bare. The firewall down to the sloped floorboards was blacked out. Again, clean with soap and water and you'll find the paint lines.
Your photos show unmolested areas so I'd think that you have some good documentable paint areas to guide you....
Photo the areas after washing and before you strip anything so that you have a record to go back too.....
I used Eastwoods Chassis black on my frame which is close to the Krylon.. possibly a little more shine.
It appears you are only a few bolts away from a body-off which would make cleaning/detailing a LOT easier. Go for it!!!! You'll be happy you did.

Nice series of pics, Ken. Boy, the joys of using a LIFT! .. I can only imagine. I recently did my '64 'frame on', on jackstands. There were times I came out from under the car sporting the posture of the 'Hunchback of Notre Dame'. Getting a bit old to still be doing it this way, I guess! .. It did help to have a beer handy, though, when doing 'floor duty'. ..

The suspension members, radiator support, firewall and inside fenders, etc. were all repainted. I used Krylon 1613 for suspension components, brackets, and the front radiator support. The firewall and inner fenders were done in SEM Trim Black. I used Rustoleum 7798 on the frame for a bit more sheen. The Krylon 1613 and SEM Trim Black are very close to the same sheen - hard to tell apart.

I was more concerned with corrosion protection than 'correctness' .. I'm not planning on showing my car as it will be a driver.
