It was on the edge of leaf #7 (the lowest straight leaf of a 9-leaf standard suspension; #1 being the one facing the road). So I suppose the location is random depending on where the embossings were on the bar stock. This is on my late '65. I also examined a '64 assembled spring, but couldn't see anything, as the liners tend to hide about 50% of the exposed steel edge, and am too lazy to dis-assemble to examine in more detail.
