    67 windshield washers

Couldn't get them to squirt at the cumberland meet. If I blow water into the tubing it will squirt. Then it will continue to squirt using the knob, but once I stop and try later, nothing. I replaced the tubing. What next. Anyone have any thoughts???

    Thanks,

    Walt Weems

Walt, sounds as if the diaphragm inside the pump is gone. Take a look at this on eBay, it's easy to install.

Walt, that auction has ended, but he lists them frequently. The seller is Brian at Corvette Specialties of MD.

        Walt,

If it will squirt, you probably don't need the bellows in the ebay picture. All you need is the valve plate and seal.

Sometimes you can reset the little rubber valves with some light grease and they will seal properly. Especially the old original rubber ones. You'll see the difference right away, between the original ones and the cheap stuff you get today as replacements.

If you don't use them in a while the valves tend to dry out and lose prime.
I have a catheter syringe in my toolbox to prime them when necessary.

            Walt,

First: Do you hear the washer pump solenoid actuate(click)when you call for water?
Second: Do you hear the piston engage, and cycle with each revolution of the transmission after the solenoid engages the washer pump pawl?

If the answer to both of these is true, then it is either a failed bellows, loss of prime, obstruction, or leaking pump cover check valve(s).
