Re: NEED JUDGING GUIDE. Red Flag!!

Chester, that's life!!! NCRS puts it's knowledge and rules in print to a greater extent than any other concourse car organization in the world. But, when you live by the pen, you die by the pen....

Only the almighty is perfect. You will find errors of commission and errors of commission in every published item. We are still learning about these cars, so changes are inevitable. If anyone knew all there was to know about Corvette Truth, we wouldn't need judges -- we'd just turn the hobby over to a computer and be done with it....

So, you won't get what you're asking -- all the 'errors' listed nice and neat. Also, you won't get what you want, a nice clean algorithm to restore your car fault free, the first time. This is an iterative sport/hobby that I look at as an anti-entropy endeavor (put all the pieces back together). The fun lies in the learning, meeting the people, and enjoying the metamorphis of your Corvette!

Re: Please read ,RE:68 Big Thanks

You're in the heart of Mecca! I'm on a mountaintop in Colorado.

My advice is to call the NCRS membership office in Cincinnati (close enough?) and yak with Eric/Gary Mortimer. Find the contact for your closest NCRS Chapter, join, and get active.

You'll find/meet guys that'll bend over backwards to help you and I think you'll get a kick. BUT, you get out of an organization what you put into it, so don't expect a free ride....

Last, restoring a '68 is one of the toughest jobs in all of Corvettedom. Like '57 FI and '63, this was a major new intro year. Changes were rampant. You'll also find abundant mysteries here/there where, in the end, you have to decide what's right vs. what the 'experts' say.

There are owners and judges in NCRS. Every judge started as an owner. When everything is boiled to the bottom line, we're ALL MEMBERS and we put our pants on one leg at a time (we also stumble/fall)!

        Re: More Fun

I'm a national member and a member of the Queens City Chapter. Cool thing I was up in Norwalk with the man doing the body work and I was stripping the firewall and engine compartment when I found the markings "4-10", and it was also by the gas tank area!!! Asumming this means that the body was going down the line on April 10, 1968. I love this ****, what a fun thing to find, just as happy as when I found the gas tank sticker.
