Is there any way you can tell if a black shift knob 4 speed from a 1963 corvette is original?

Re: 1963 shift knob
Yes,
the line is there as mentioned (I have 2 of them w/ slight differences) and along with that it is NOT a plastic dark black color. They look to have light to dark specs in the plastic or whatever their made out of. One other difference is the mounting hole on one has the threaded insert recessed and the other has the metal insert to the edge of the outer surface. Maybe just another supplier is all. I don't believe the plastic or whatever composition it's made of is the same type plastic used today that we see. This is what i would look for in an original for that $$$$'s amount.
