    C2 Corvette Parts Suppliers

Having read many posts here on this forum recently ... I have seen the occasional mention to a few of 'Vette parts suppliers and services.

So far, I've not come across anyone recommending or using ZIP Products.

I have recently purchased, from them, parts to refurbish the front/rear suspension and steering-linkage on my '63. I've been satisfied with their services ... but have no reference comparison based upon how other suppliers may perform.

I'd be most appreciative of other members experience, advice, guidance and counsel regarding ZIP Products and the other suppliers out there.

BTW, when I began with the 'idea' of freshening-up this car, I had requested a catalog from Long Island Corvette ... after receiving same, then selected the parts I wanted ... attempted to place my order ... only to be denied because I had to apply for appropriate credentials or whatever ... which I could understand. So I placed a telephone call to them so as to proceed ... WHOA!!! ... the person I spoke with was VERY rude, terse and sarcastic!!! She must have been having a bad day or whatever. Result: I was turned-off by that person and, therefore, LIC, so went elsewhere.

Maybe I was too hasty in going elsewhere ... don't know ... but they have a nice catalog with lotsa parts.

    Sincerely,

    PeteZ

I prefer Paragon over others have tried alot of different vendors, tell you as you list each part if it is in stock, how much it is with the NCRS discount, if not in stock when it is expected, fair shipping costs, try to get it out the door quick.

Uh, She wasn't having a "bad day", I've had the same experience!

There are many good suppliers depending on what you are looking for.

I primarily use Paragon, Chicago Corvette, Eastern Corvettes, and have ordered from Dr. Rebuild some also.

        Cheers,

        Steve

          Re: C2 Corvette Parts Suppliers

You inform Paragon's order taker to annotate your buyer file with an 'NCRS' designation. From there, they extend a 10% discount on 'certain' parts that qualify.

Doesn't sound like much, but keep in mind the professional restoration houses in their OEM program only get a 15% discount, so don't be too disappointed with the meger discount. It's pretty much the rule of thumb in the restoration parts game...

Long Island is by far the most abrasive & rude JERKS I have ever had the misfortune to to business with (once).

I live on LI and wouldn't give LICS 1 more cent. Dr. Rebuild, Joe Ray parts & Paragon.

                In order of preference...

Joe Ray, then Doc Rebuild, then Paragon

The long island corvettes lady was rude the first time I called. Since then, if I get her, I tell her I have a technical question about the order and she hands me off to a guy. The guy is always nice and very helpfull. He even broke into a set of window track rollers for me to just send me one and not a full set. The key is you have to have your order written out first so you dont waste their time. He always looks up parts if I have a question and the process is smooth.

You get a 10% discount on order over $1,000. I dont use anyone else.

I've used ZIP and no problems. A couple additional I didn't see mentioned, corvette central & corvette america. Limited exposure to them but don't recall any problems

Hands down Long Island Corvette Supply is the most comprehensive midyear parts supplier, the are very knowledgable and everything is almost always in stock.

I never knew what a sensitive bunch we were here.

As for C2 supplies (correct parts) I have tried many places and now stick with LICS and Paragon. As for LICS, I simply fill out my little order sheet, fax it in during the morning of day #1, and PRESTO it is at my house the next day, every single little part I ordered, ALWAYS. At a generally competitive price. I should also add Doc Rebuild, his operation is on my go to list too.

That's what I want wen it comes to a part for my 65, speed (impossible when stuck in backorder hell) and a fair price. I don't see the need to engage LICS, or any other parts place, in any sort of conversation - that's what this place and CF is for. And maybe my wife, during those times when she is not mad at me about something.

As for correct original dated parts (like a correct Holley 2818) I still like the fun of chasing that stuff down all over the place, including ebay, swap meets, word of mouth, Corvette Forums, whatever.

I've never had a problem with LICS, and never had a back-ordered item (nor have I ever had occasion to talk to them on the phone); I fax my order, and two days later it shows up on my doorstep. Note to self: Don't call them.
