C2 air cleaner connection

Can any one tell me what is conncted to the small pipe that is located on the bottom side of lower part. Went to Omaha last saturday and saw some with rubber line connected to fitting near exhuast manifold. My engine is missing this piece, but do not know what the nameis or where to get one. Can anyone help me out.......................Thanks in advance for any help....Joe

That rubber tube connects the air cleaner to the crankcase breather tube located at the rear of your engine next to your distributor. Assuming you have a C2 generation engine.

Dennis: Thanks for your input , I know that the larger tube is connected to the crankcase ventalation. The one in question connects to the tube under the breather next to flame arrestor then to somewhere near the passenger ex manifold. I have a 65 NSWC l79.....thanks.......Joe

Could it be the clean air tube/clean air hose set up? See licorvette.com. Section #22 part #51B

I think it connects to the tube that runs behind the right side exhaust manifold. One end of the tube sticks into the hole in the exhaust manifold, then the tube snakes around, behind the manifold and has a mounting hole, which I think shares the same bolt as the exhaust manifold bolt(could be wrong on that bolt) and sticks up next to the valve cover. The hose should run from the air cleaner to that tube and I believe it wraps around part of the air cleaner.

Joe,

Here's a pic of my 65 L79. The clean air hose runs from a fitting under the air cleaner base to the clean air tube and runs through the exhaust manifold and over to the carb choke cover. Hope that helps.

my l76 - same routings - clean air hose - you tube may be broken off in the exhaust manifold - when i restored my engine - i had to drill it out - li corvette has tube with hose in stock - it comes out the bottom of where the choke tube is - choke tube out of top - clean air tube out of bottom - see pic
