    Turn Signal flashing slowly

I have not driven my 1970 in a long time. I took it out yesterday and the turn signals are flashing extremely slowly. The left lamp appears to be burnt out and I will replace it, however that will not cause the whole system to slow down will it? I have a bit of a drive and wondered whether I should buy a flasher as well or ?

    Thanks for any assistance

    Dave

    Dave,

The flash rate depends on the current flow thru the flasher. The more current flow, the faster the element heats up and makes/breaks, and so a faster rate. It sounds like you have at least one bad/missing bulb per circuit. The flasher cans are matched to the rated current draw (i.e.:size and number of bulbs)of the circuit. It's possible that you have the wrong unit installed.

Throughout my 36 years of my 70, I have replaced a couple of flashers. When the last one quit I picked up one at WAL-MART name brand BUSS I believe, and it works just fine. Nice thing about the 70, the flasher is no problem to replace because it is so easy to change.

Lots of light problems if bulbs and the flasher don't help are caused by bad grounds. If the bulbs seem dim this is the way they look with ground problems. I have a 10' ground lead I hook to the battery and direct to a cleaned up place on the housing of the bulb and if it gets brighter you need to fix the ground.
