Shell Rotella oil info

The other day we discussed using the Shell Rotella C1-4 motor oil for newly rebuild flat tappet cam engines. Jim said that his local Walmart stocked 10-30W where as most other places only stocked 15-40W. Just reporting that my Walmart had the lighter weight oil by the gallon. Little less thatn 9 bucks. So that's good news. I was sorta leary on using the heavier oil in a fresh rebuild. Buying the GM oil supplement also. Should have lots of zinc and hopefully no cam problems. John

The zinc extreme pressure additive would be found in generous quantity in the diesel-rated engine oil and in extreme concentration in the GM EOS additive. So, in the scenario described, the zinc would be found in BOTH the oil and the EOS.
