I have a '68 427/400hp/auto. Its time to replace the exhaust and I'm not sure what to do. I suppose an aluminized system would be more durable (appearance wise) for a longer period of time but I'm doing an NCRS resto so I'm torn between that and the correct carbon steel (assuming someone reproduces exact replacements). Anyone have any input?
And most importantly, regardless of the decision who is the best vendor for either system?
Mark,
Allen's is the positive subject of many threads regarding exhaust systems. Visit their web site at http://www.allencorvetteexhaustsystems.com and decide for yourself whether you want an aluminized or carbon steel system. "Exact replacements" are not found (yet) unless they are NOS due to the bending processes used today versus that used for assembly line exhaust systems. Or, perhaps you could scan previous posts for more thorough information.

I purchased Allen's Aluminized mufflers and are pleased with them. They fit very well and look great. I don't know how they will be judged as that remains to be seen.
