    C2 rear suspension

Wa driving the 65 coupe this evening and notice that the rear suspension seemed to shift or slide up under the car. Has anyone ever noticed that with their cars. The suspention had been rebuilt when installed. Put it up on the lift and noticed that one of the trailing arm bolts was loose so I tighted it up, all the shims were in place. All u-joints new..........Got any ideas.............Thanks in advance.....Joe

    Joe -

Normally when you feel that "shifty-slidey" syndrome in the rear suspension, it's because some of the toe shims have departed and the front of the trailing arm is loose laterally as a result.

John is probably right, but also check the pinion shubber or differential front support. If this bracket cracks, the differential rotates up on acceleration and can hit the floor of the car and can tear a hole in the glass. They crack at the mounting bolt holes.
