    Corvette cover

What is the most effective yet least expensive truly waterproof Corvette cover? I have seen two, three, and four layer. Some are lightweight and one I picked up recently to hand to a Corvette owner felt like it weighed twenty pounds.

    Thanks,
    Scott

My preference is "Technalon" or "Evolution IV". These are 3 and 4 layer, respectively, cellulose fiber covers. They are waterproof for outdoor storage, yet they still "breathe" to avoid mold and other problems. They also provide significant "ding" protection which the vast majority of other covers do not. They are a bit bulky and a little bit heavy (especially the 4 layer). However, overall, they do more of all the things that you want a car cover to do.

      Scott,
some here may not agree, but I looked for a long time for a cover
I ended up going to advance auto and purchased their $59.95 cover
(auto express ultimate) it is triple layer andwaterproof, what was great I could feel the fabric right in the store I have a C1 and chose the (m size), I cut a hole for my antenna using the enclosed patch I feel I have just as good as the ones adver. in mag. for over dollars

I consider Joe as one of the most trusted and respected people on this board. But the key phrase I used was best and least expensive waterproof. As far as Technalon the ones that Joe mentioned was lesser expensive than others in the Technalon line. I saw a three layer waterproof on eBay for around $75 including shipping. When I was at the NCRS Nationals in San Antonio last week I removed a friend's car cover that was very heavy so I assumed it was a four layer.
        Thanks for your input!

Technalon or Evolution IV are not necessarily expensive. It depends upon whether you get a "custom fit" cover or a "generic" (4 or 5 sizes fit all). A custom fit is considerably more expensive. However, a "generic" that you can purchase in an auto parts store can be either Technalon or Evolution IV AND still be relatively inexpensive.

Personally, I always like a "custom fit" cover. But it's not a big issue from the standpoint of functionality.
