    C2 radiator leak

Any advice on fixing a small (toothpick or smaller) hole in the top of a radiator? It is located in the seal near the expansion tank oulet. What about cleaning and using JB weld? If JB not a good idea, any special precautions on taking it off the car to take into a shop?

Assume that you're referring to the 1966 SBC. If so, then is it an original, or reproduction aluminum unit? If it's a copper/brass replacement, then it can easily be brazed while in place. If aluminum, then I'd clean and scuff the area, try the JB weld, and keep my fingers crossed. I can tell you that JB weld adheres very well to aluminum at atmospheric pressure, for non cosmetic valve cover repair. I cannot vouch for how well it would hold at 15 psig, but certainly worth a try considering the cost of a new aluminum reproduction.

Thanks Joe. It is a SB and is a new repro aluminum with almost no hours on it.

If it's that new I'm sure the supplier will warranty it, don't mess it up and void the warranty.

          Danny,

Talk to Tom DeWitt. He is a "stand-up" guy, and will help you in any way......if possible.

Thanks for the comment, and yes, I will be happy to fix it for nothing. If you want to try it yourself, I'd go with epoxy before the JB. You can get the two part stuff at any store. The most important part of repairing is to pin-point the exact area, which is hard to do without a test tank. But if you know for sure where it's coming out, clean it good, wash it with some laquer thinner, and then put a small amount on the hole. Heat it with a heat gun and that will make it very watery and it will run inside the hole. Remember to keep it small, you don't need any more than what plugs the hole.
