Clem, Who built the engines for Dr. Blatchley's Grady Davis tanker? Was it Timmy Grabiak or was it you? Can't remember and was recently asked the question.Talking about the '63, white w/blue stripes. The 63 was serviced at Grabiak Chevrolet on the time clock. That much I remember so I figure the engine was built at the dealership. You know about as much as anyone about the old race car. Also what number was it (on the door)? Thanks, John

Re: Clem Zahrobsky- Dr. Blatchley Qt.
tim did the engines. i went to the races with him sometime to crew. dr marsh, timmy and dave jurvanak were the basic crew.i still have a brown scar on the back of one leg from the side exhaust. docs first corvette was 1960 with a GMC supercharger sticking out thru the hood. he was 55 years old when he started racing. doc ran #6 i believe as that was a long time ago. we stayed in a private home when we went to watkins glen and doc would wear a surgeon's operating room cap to sleep because he said his bald head got cold without it.- Top

Re: Clem Zahrobsky- Dr. Blatchley Qt.
Clem, Dr. Blatchley was reunited with the restored '63 race car at the NCRS national at Seven Springs around 1992 or so. Somewhere I have a pic of Doc & me posing in front of the car but can't find it.Jack Greenberg took the pics as I recall. Rich Mason owned the car at the time and it was restored to Sebring race attire. When Doc owned it the fancy lites weren't on it. Have to find that photo somewhere. Did you see the car on display at Festival Hall? MY '63 was a few parts on it that were early take offs from #6. The number doesn't sound correct but it may be? Surely lots of our members know the car today and can give us the number. Rich Mason drove it in lot of Vintage racing. Heard he sold it but don't know if that's fact or not. Still a few pieces of the old car scattered around here. Tim was an Ace mechanic wasn't he. Wonder where the old log book is stashed now?- Top

Dave, Good meeting last night. Dr. Mike deserves member of year award as he is MR. NCRS. Backbone of our favorite club for an eon. Highly regarded as a gentleman and a friend. Asset to our hobby. Serves great carbs too.
Haven't seen Blatchley's name in Tribune about estate yet. Always read that stuff. Will keep watching for sure now. See you in Carlisle. John
Dr. Mike. What was the number on door of the '63 race car of Docs? Clem and I can't remember for sure.
Nice to hear that our friend is restoring the 66 Grady Davis car of Doc's. There were two Grady Davis 66 race cars. One was a big block and one was a small block. Some people think there was only one that Grady had at Gulf. But I know there were two. If you want evidence call me. Cost you.- Top
