C2 Ignition switch

I need to replace the ignition lock cylinder in my '66. I have looked all over in the Chassis Service Manual and can't find the procedure. Can someone please point me in the right direction?

According to John Hinckley in a well written Corvette Enthusiast article (July 2004) "Insert the ignition key,turn it to the accessory position, then use the end of a bent-open medium-size paper clip in the little hole next to the key. Push the paper clip in against light spring pressure, and turn the key counter-clockwise - the key and cylinder will then pop out"! It works, I've done it many times.

Randy's description is correct but if you want to see it in the chassis service manual see 6Y-26 Ignition switch replacement

Tim,

Another tip on removing your old ignition switch is take the switch out of the dash before trying to remove the wiring harness. The harness has nylon security locks that "lock" the harness to the switch. They are "a ton of fun" trying to remove.
