Confirm: Gene Jantzen 5434 Natural Bridge Ave

Bought floor mats there in June '72.

            Here is a rare photo..Nov.1963

Gene Jantzen Chevrolet..across the street from the St.Louis Corvette Plant

            * Notice the new 64 Imapla Convertible

            * also notice the 4 inches of snow on the building and snow on the ground

            * and most of the bay doors open

Bill Howe..and Jack Knabb from Ohio..picked up a brand new 1957 Black Airbox car here in May 1957 and drove it to the SCCA race a few days later in Cumberland, Md..

That car has been found is currently undergong restoration.

              Joe,

There is an interesting web site, http://www.airl88.com/, which features the James Garner AIR L88's. The old pictures are great. If I remember correctly, David Reisner was instrumental in locating two of the cars years ago. Thanks for all that you share on this board especially the pictures of your 1957.

Bill...you are showing your age..thanks for the reminder about kaiser Chevrolet.. Do you remember Johnny Londoff Chevrolet..over by the airport?

Bill ..was there a Chevrolet dealer over on the east side that had trailers of parts and cars some years back?

I talked to a Tucker collector that said he bought a bunch of stuff from a dealer in the Collinsville East St.Louis area.

Also..with all the talk about 53 # 002... I remember a 53 sitting in a field over by you..is that the car people are talking about?

Yes the Chevy dealer that had the trailers full of parts closed about 15 years ago. it was Ofallon motors..03619.. The owner is still around and is still a collector but most of his cars are non corvettes. I was told he bought everything on the Tucker assy. line after it shut down..He had three cars and alot of parts laying around...Johnny Londoff 01509 is still open. I dont know of any 53 Corvettes in the fields but there were some 54s, and there were 2 kaiser darins sitting in a field . Do you remember the 54 that was customized to look like a 58 impala. I wonder what happened to it. I have lots of owner info on that one.

Re: what was the name of the Chevrolet Dealer

Bill..I don't recall the 58 Impala looking 54. Was it converted to a four headlight front end?

Many years ago..I went somewhere west of St.Louis..and looked at a customized 57 with vertical dual headlights and chromed suspension and all the parts to put it back to stock. I thought $4000 was too high and passed.

I wish I would have at east learned more about the car.

There is more to the O'Fallon collection of Tucker cars and parts at least as described to me by a well known Tucker collector. I would find it interesting to talk to the O'fallon owner.

I lived in Florissant as you may recall and with Corvettes in my driveway..most of the time..it was common for other Corvettes to stop by.

I remember a guy stopped by one day with a customized 68 or 69..real L88.

                      Wonder where that one went.

I also have a friend that knows the whereabouts of a real and complete 67 L88 ..but the car is not for sale.

Lots of good cars still out there.

If you care to e-mail me the name you have that owned the 54 customized to the Impala..maybe I will recognize it.
