Looking at a couple 2-piece (60-62) air cleaner assemblies... one's pretty heavy, the other obviously lighter. This one seems like a repro. The lighter one has a lighter, flatter base with a couple of stamped raised spots in the middle, and has the black stencil AC directions. The other base is much heavier, also with stenciling, and the circular center hole is "contoured" to the carb opening, while the other is more flat. No raised areas. One has an AC logo in a circle while the other doesn't. Which is correct? I don't see much detail on this in the NCRS 58-60 manual.
Air cleaner design? (58-62)

Re: Air cleaner design? (58-62)
Until someome who knows about Corvettes comes along, here's a bad shot of a lousy but original '62 air cleaner base I have with the carb extensions. Is that what you mean by 'contoured'? I don't honestly know whether the extensions were found on '58-'60 units as well.
Also, check the heavy air cleaner top to see if it's magnetic. If so, it's from a GTO, not a Corvette.

Re: Air cleaner design? (58-62)
Thats helpful, Rob. Actually, the one I think is a repro has the raised "bump" like yours does, and the hole for the carb is more flat, like yours is. It also has the AC logo in a circle. The other one (the heavy one)"contours" in that the hole for the carb dips into the carb more, it "funnels" more (whew, crazy terminology). It also does not have the "raised bump" I see on yours... but has similar black print without the AC in the circle. Aaak. I'll take some pictures and post.- Top
