I'm presently restoring a 1964 coupe with the Daytona Blue exterior (916) and a silver and blue interior (491BA). I'm confused regarding the carpet color with this interior code. The judging manual indicates a grey carpet, yet Isaac's car is shown with blue carpet and Kevin's has the silver/grey carpet. Can anyone offer comments on which is correct? It seems odd that a silver vinyl door panel with blue carpet is made if the carpet with this code is to be grey. In what interior code would this door panel be used?

Re: C-2; 1964 Silver Interior; Sam
It could be that the carpet was changed to blue on my car? I don't know. As I said before, someone has done a someone restoration. Though it sort of makes since to have blue carpet because the dash is dark blue as well? The carpet on the door panel has been re-dyed, and I looked really close and it sure looks like it WAS gray/silver.
Anyhow, There isn't anything else blue in it other than the dash. Everything else is silver, except the seat belts which are blue as well. Even the head liner is silver.
my numbers are:
K02
64 837
491BA
S6668 BODY
936AA PAINT
Can anyone give me some tips? Do I have the wrong carpet in there?

Re: C-2; 1964 Silver Interior; Sam
Isaac,
------The re-dyed lower door-panels answer the question. Although your color combination is visually appealing and on the face of it seems like something GM should have done,,,,they didnt. If your car is a driver (albeit nice) I would consider leaving it as is. Dark blue carpet doesnt show dirt as easily and the combo does look good.........Bill S- Top

Isaac,
------Also, unless something has changed for the better all reproduction silver carpet seems to look bad (at least) to me. Very similar to the bright blue carpet thread above, original silver carpet was a bit darker than silver and appeared as a gray. In my opinion, none of the carpet manufacturers have been willing to address this inconsistency as the numbers of silver interiors are so low they think it isnt worth it........Bill S- Top

Re: C-2; 1964 Silver Interior; Sam
Al Knoch and several other interior component suppliers offer a silver door panel with the blue carpet for the '64. Therefore it must have been used in some application, but I can't see any other interior code to which it would apply. Since the door panel and floor carpet is to match, a blue carpet should be paired with this door panel. Unfortunately as you've observed, this color combination is rare and may remain a mystery.- Top

Curtis,
--------Al K also offers 66 green leather seats and 67 white leather seats and yet neither one was offered by the General. What can we make of this??? Al sells what people ask him for weather correct or not........Bill S- Top
