62----Clutch Adjustment

Hi all

I need to adjust my 62 vette clutch so my pedal is alittle higher from the floor. It's been awhile since I messed with this and I can't remember how to do it easy. Both ends of the rod that push the clutch fork are fixed with pin and cotter pin. So how do I length'n the rod without disconnecting it. Is there an easy way to adjust the clutch that i'm not seeing?

The forward end of the lower rod connects to the bottom lever on the cross shaft via a threaded swivel which provides the adjustment; you remove the pin, disconnect the swivel from the lever, adjust the swivel, and re-connect. Don't focus on where the pedal is relative to the floor - the important part of clutch adjustment is to set the pedal free travel (between the full up against the rubber bumper point and the point where you feel resistance from the throwout bearing when depressing the pedal); you need 1" to 1-1/2" of pedal free travel to ensure that you don't fry the throwout bearing.

Thanks for your response. I was doing that. The trouble I was having was getting the rod connected to the clutch fork.It was very hard to connect and I think I need more adjustment. I'll try again.
