Yes, that same car is shown in the Friedman/Paddock "Grand Sport" book being raced in Canada in 1965; it's either chassis #004 or #005, don't recall which. The scoops on top of the rear quarters are for cooling air for the rear brakes.

Check with Mike Ernst - it seems to me

that Tony Denham, who once owned the Grady Davis '62 that Mike owned later, at one time had a Grand Sport.

            Wayne,

YES....that is Grand Sport 005, now owned by Bill Tower of Plant City, Florida. At the time your picture was taken this car was owned by Dave Greenblatt of Montreal, Canada. The car was driven by Jacques Couture of Montreal and sponsored by Duval Motors also of Montreal. (Famed Porche racer Jacques Duval's family.) George Winterstein bought this car from Roger Penske in December of 1964 in Nassau between races and then went out and won the next race with it.
For those who are interested,in the book titled "Corvette Grand Sport" by Lowell Paddock and Dave Friedman, THEY MIX UP Grand Sport 004 with Grand Sport 005 SEVERAL TIMES.

                Hi Clem.....

So you are part of the Grand Sport legend too....I knew you were a legendary figure the first time I met you. I believe George Winterstein had at least two mechanics at different times. I think Bill "Murph" Mayberry worked on the Grand Sport Roadster(002)that Winterstein bought from Penske in March of 1966....and possibly the Coupe as well. I believe both the Coupe(005)and the Roadster(002)were prepard in Penske's shop in Newton Square, Penn. at one time or another. I think the other mechanic was Bill Scott, a Sunoco man, lent to Penske and Winterstein.

Clem, did you see both 005,(the Coupe)and 002(the Roadster)at one time or another in Pennsylvania??

                very best regards,

                Rick.

i qm pretty sure it was 65 BUT it could have been

                    66. in 66 BBC corvettes would not have been that rare. i will check thru my corvette clubs newsletters because i know there was a picture of the GS in it.i do not remember if it was the white one or the blue on. that was a long time ago.
