I asked this question before but misplaced the responses.. I'm looking to buy seatbelts for my 62. I would like originals in RED with buckles. Is there any place that might have them? If I need to purchase repoduction seatbelts, who has the best quality and price? Your help is appreciated.
I believe there are four different buckle designs in 62. You will need the judging manual and your serial number to determine the correct design. The only source I am aware of for correct buckles are used part vendors found in the driveline or at swap meets. Correct webbing and labels can be bought from most reproduction suppliers. I bought a set of buckles at Bloomington Gold five + years ago for $200 and had Snake Oyl Products add webbing and labels. If you are not worried about "correctness" you can get a good set at Seat Belt City, Snake Oyl Products or Corvette Central.
Thanks for your response.. My car is the 149th car off the assembly line.Built August 10th 1961. I would like to get the correct ones but if I have to, i'll get regular repo's for now. Thanks for your help.
Watch the JGM. Some look at the chart and treat the serial #'s as gospel. if you read the verbiage you see "about" and "approximately" used.
My car is 2654 and it does not meet the chart data in the 2500-8750 range qouted in the JGM. My buckles are painted. But if you read it says painted thru approximately 2500. I think that 2654 could be "about" 2500.
I also have the "US Patent" 2,458,810" which also says "about" 2500 in the verbiage. In the chart it says the patent number or CS 5000 thru 8750.
My males were the 235 stamped which is ok thru 8750 per the chart.
All I am saying is that there is some leeway in how the seatbelts can be judged.
