    Carlisle 4/28-4/29

I am going out to Carlisle with a good friend of mine next weekend and was wondering if anyone ahs any idea what the corvette scene will be like. Its always nice to see high concentration of vettes and their owners in one place. More importantly though I am really interested in finding the correct alternator and voltage regulator for my 68 L-89. I was at Corvettes at Carlisle three years ago and there was plenty of parts (obviously). How do the two events compare?

Second item: I had a rather unnerving conversation with someone I will politely call "less informed." This person beleives that 454's started to appear in vettes in 1968. Additionally he maintains that 396/402's were installed in vettes in the early 70's. I could be wrong but I think that this is just not true. Any well thought out responses to this claim would be greatly appreciated.

Big-blocks were available in Corvettes from the factory as follows:

    model year | big block displacement ----------------------------------- 1965 | 396 1966-1969 | 427 1970-1974 | 454

Okay, that last response didn't look good at all. Let's try that again. Big-blocks were available in Corvettes from the factory as follows: 396 (1965), 427 (1966-1969), and 454 (1970-1974).

        HI Noel:

Spring Carlisle is great. All the same corvette vendors are there in J-row, plus thousands more selling everything. Lots of the other vendors have stray Vette parts which can quite often be picked up at lower prices than from the knowledgable Corvette vendors. You just have to know your parts. Lots of Vettes for sale too.

The Spring and Fall Carlisle shows are terrific. Been going for as many years as they had it. There are about 8000 venders and about 1000 cars in the car corral. There is no parking inside the the fairgrounds-just cars and parts for sale. Go and have fun! Page Campbell
