Dan I think I found the casting date on the other side transmission flange on the 3970014.

could be a 350 from a 1978 malibu or monte carlo fifth digit of the vin on the car should be a "u"

Mortec has it as a '70-76 350, either 2 or 4 bolt configuration

The VIN pegs it as a '73 built at Van Nuys, and there was a CMA suffix in '73 for 350 2-barrel automatics used in full-size passenger cars and Camaros, both of which were built at Van Nuys.
