I am restoring a 69 coupe and want to replace the steel reinforcing channels that go under the fiberglass sill plates, mine are rusted out. I drilled out the big rivets, but it won't budge, so I believe it must also be glued. Is there a way to get the steel channels out without destroying the body and the channels? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Mark

Re: C-3
I am doing a full resotoration on my 68 coupe. I started out thinking I was going to do a simple "body off" restoration, but then found enough rust in these rails to think I would replace them. You are in for a MAJOR job that requires professional help (probably in more ways than one ).
You will need to remove the fiberglass rail cover, lock pillar and rear fender at a minimum. You may find there is much more rust in more areas as well. If this is not a Big Block car or a rare car, you may want to seriously consider not going any further.
Good Luck,
