    c-2 fender wells

    looking at 66 roadster, the owner claims only front surround was changed but there is no bonding strips, is this possible. what color are the wells for a late 66 production

    Sure is possible! For a LONG time there was no source for factory original, press molded, reproduction fiberglass components. What was available was hand laid parts that you pieced together yourself. Then, suppliers invested in tooling to offer a 1-piece front clip.

    It was VERY popular since it captured all of the correct dimensions and you didn't have to 'screw around' with bonding strips and piecing together the individual panels...

      To answer your question, the inner-fenders would have been gray to very dark gray-black. It would depend on just how late we are talking about. You could look at the remaining innerfenders for things like original rivets and rubber installation etc. to determine if they are original.

        If it's a June or July '66 build date car, look for the presence of the broken off corner on the RH inner fender as described in my recent Restorer article.
