For what it's worth....I have the stock/orig. dual point dist on my '62 FI car and have never had an overheating problem even when in traffic for long periods. Last summer I got caught in a jam and was idling for 30 - 40 mins; I almost died from the heat, but the temp guage was fine. I don't have any idea what my advance is other than I set the timing with a light at about 10 degrees advance....no idea what the vacuum is. It starts immediately at that timing setting and only takes awhile to start during the typical FI hot start. Fan/clutch/radiator are all orig.........I think the water pump has been replaced a few times.
