    Radiator fan shroud

I think only a few 55 and 56 owners are on this forum but who can tell me what the two clutch head screws are screwed to and how many shroud pieces are used for the 55 and 56 Corvette. 57 had the center holes for the bolts holding the lower piece to the cross member and how many shroud pieces did they have?. How many have seen both large center and little holes near the outer edge area in the same lower piece for 55 up to early 60.
    (I know why do you?)

    Re: Radiator fan shroud- Roy

Roy, From memory: the '56 lower shroud is in three pieces, the big lower center piece with two large size holes and two small right end pieces that attached to the center piece with clutch head screws. one of the small right end pieces has a large cut out in it for access to the rad hose and Corbin clamp. The two large holes in the center piece uses self tapping bolts to hold the lower shroud to the big front rad support thing like a front frame brace (don't know what it's called). Also believe the two right angle pieces also screw into the sides of the top shroud with clutch head screws.S pain to align everyting up. All clutch head screws have a machine thread if that's any help. Regards, JIm

You Say =(56 lower shroud is in three pieces) wrong

      The rest is correct
Your memory a little off, I'm trying to see how Many C1 owners know this,
Jim! I'm not putting you down just wont to see how many know what is correct. Thanks

          Roy,
At the risk of being "sniped" I have to agree with virtually every description that Jim Frakes made including how he probably took your return post. My car is #3241 1956 and the bottom is in three pieces. So, what is your point?

My memory I know is slipping because my wife brings up things I said and did 39 years ago when we got married and my only response is asking her was she married before thinking he was me. I don't wont to repeat her response to me.
This is not a (trick question) I see many C1's missing or have the wrong year shroud in Corvettes. I may be making a mistake thinking this forum was a place to learn by challenging information , people ask about over spray painting ???. I realize few C1's owners visit here like 53 to 60. May be I should stick to C2's. I had a few but see that many people here have a greater deal of knowledge more then I could add ,and realize also not to mention much about my 67 coup any more, it's an odd ball Corvette.
Again I'm not trying to smart off just inform .

There is no point YET I asked a question to see if some one knew the answers before I responded and to get others peoples thoughts I'm beginning to realize not to ask in the future to see if people would get involved to determine what happened .
I will only answer IF asked by E-mail. And will drop this question and not answer do to the response. I'm sorry all over again because I did this once before, you see my memory is getting bad too.

We went thru this once, and mine has never

had the piece these screws attach. I have since had all the fan shroud parts out replace the 50-year-old brake lines, and close up in a good light it was clear no screw has ever "violated" any of the holes in question on 55 #1518.
