I don't know these cars, but for fun I was just looking through a book to try to tell the difference. Is it the front vents that are different? Square running lights vs. round? Nose looks the same. What other differences are there?
Other differences are front bumperettes, side marker lights, black paint wasn't offered in '70, but mostly subtle differences. The car has early '70s style seats. I'm interested in the VIN number from the car's windshield frame and the trim tag information to see if it matches up to a '69 or '70. I guess this is a '69/'70 version of a '73.
I emailed this guy earlier in the auction with this Q:
"When was the front end of this car totaled? why is there a 69 front clip?"
Here's his response:
"Is this the only car out there with body mod's?
This is an original white car with tan interior. It is my understanding that black exterior with red interior was not a factory option in 1970 but it is my understanding it was in 1969. Maybe the fellow who restored the car did it so it appeared correct? Your guess is as good as mine. "
I think all the questions should appear in the listings, and not let the seller pick and choose.
I suggested he post a note about it to avoid (legal) problems in the future. By being totally silent about the "modification" he is basically misrepresenting the auction.
