C2 67 Jack finish

I'm refurbishing my jack. Anybody know if the jack was assembled with the lead screw in it before it was painted... or are the screw and washers natural?

Semi-gloss black the color of choice?

Yes. Thats what got me started on refurbishing mine. In the photo it appears that part of the screw is painted while the ends are not. I'm just trying to verify if thats correct.

The painted portion of the 67 jack is gloss black-not semi gloss black.

The picture in this post is an untouched original 67 Jack (except for the bolt in the wrench which replaced the rivet). This jack was rolling around my jack compartment for some 37 years before I refinished it.

A portion of the screw on the nut end was painted as it shows in the picture. The washers were natural zinc plated. In refinishing it, I was careful to replicate the original painting by screwing the jack up tight, and masking the outboard screw part and the washers. I then spray painted it with Rustoleum Gloss Black (rattle can) in a couple of light coats. (Hung it on a wire from the garage rafters under a heat lamp.)

Tony,

Other then the 7E on the scissors leg, I don't remember seeing any other numbers on it. I'll look again today, as I'm starting the convertible top frame restoration. If 7E means May 67, that would seem to fit my June car.
