    What is the story

I've seen this 55 for sale in many different places and at many different prices. From 125K to 100k, then 85K and now 40K reserve

    Re: What is the story

Roy,I thought the same thing when I saw that reserve this morning. Obviously 40K is his lowest bid, maybe some lucky person will get a deal...Maybe just time for him to move it.

I have never considered selling my car so the values are not a big concern to me. When I bought my car bak in the 1980's for $1,400.00 I just looked at it as a cool and unusual ride. Besides, I'm missing enough original items that I could never get top dollar.... The only people getting rich are the people who sell me reproduction parts!LOL!Just ask my wife!

I'll let my kids worry about it's value, I'll pass it on to them when I'm gone.

      Re: What is the story

      Guys,

This auction has the fingerprints of a scam all over it! Pre-appproved bidders only, direct Email addresss in the ad, the Email address is an anonymous Email account, the car is way under priced, the seller has a history of selling low dollar value items, and not car stuff! I would guess that he has hijacked someone's account and has hijacked the auction from another person. If a deal looks too good to be true, it probably is! I may be wrong, but it would be interesting to hear from someone who has contacted him.

        Re: What is the story

John, I would usually agree, but his prefered payment method is cash in person. If in trying to "qualify" bidders, he isn asking for bank info or a credit card, then I'd run fast and hard from him. I have had numerous attempts at ebay scams made to me, so I'd have to agree: buyer beware.

            Re: What is the story

I would guess that the scam is somehow associated with getting your ebay login and not necessarily the money. In order to make money from these scams, you have to have a steady source of accounts to hijack.

I've never considered selling my '56, unless some ebay fool offered me 3 times what it's worth. My Vette will go to one of my children or grandchildren but no one knows who.......sorta like the lady who had a terminal illness and was posing for a portrait when she told the artist to paint her with diamond necklaces, ruby bracelets, and an emerald tiara. The artist asked why and she said that she wasn't going to live very much longer and she wants her husbands next wife to go nuts looking for the jewelry!!!!

Re: What is the story John

OK guys, here is the scam. I just went and placed a $40K bid on the car without getting "pre-approved". It came back with a page telling me that bids over $1500 dollars must have credit card info on file. Is said that my credit card info would be stored in a secure location. Sounds perfectly safe to me!
I gave them my credit card info, and went outside to clean out my trailer in anticipation of going to pick the car up! LOL

I can't believe that people fall for this crap, but obviously they do, or these scumbags would not keep doing this!
