    C2 Idler Arm rebuilt?

Have original Idler Arm, replaced last year. Would like to have the old one rebuilt, does anyone do that?

If nobody rebuilds them How can I do it? Would I need spec's, etc.

The arm that bolts into the frame is worn, the other end still looks OK.
Has anyone taken one apart so when put back together it still looks original?

    Thanks

      Thanks Donald,
Bairs does not sell correct idler arm and even if correct I don"t believe the correct numbers would be casted on them. Notice from search of past postings that the only way I can maintain the correct part is to rebuild mine or just put back on for judging.

Not sure how the thing was manufactured so don't want to pull apart until I know. I plan to look for a used one unless somebody can tell me.

        Alan,

I think your only options for a "correct" idler arm are to install a used original, or locate an NOS example. I picked up an NOS example on ebay some time ago, and have seen others show up from time to time.

        Good luck!

I know of no way to rebuild an original idler arm. I believe that their design precludes any sort of servicing.

Re: C2 Idler Arm casting numbers

OK on rebuilt - I think I will save for judging only and put on before.

            Does anyone know what the other numbers mean on the casting;

Marked - 338 GMT 3779185 A Are there any dates in there?

              Alan-----

              I don't know what the "338" refers to. I don't think it's a date code, though.
The "3779185A" is the forging number for the lever component of the idler arm. This component of the idler arm assembly was not unique to Corvette, although the complete assembly was unique to Corvette.

The "GMT" refers to the GM Tonawanda forge which is where this component of the idler arm assembly was manufactured.
