OK, a big thanks goes out to Bob for pointing me to the Rochester manual link in the previous post! Lightning fast and very helpful.
Now after going through that, I think I have an odd problem. I have a stock 1977 carb (Carter QuadraJet 17057204). Upon disassembly I am seeing that the power piston appears to be missing! Where I believe it should be, there is a long spring. Between that spot and the bowl, there is a wierd adjustment screw that has a funky head so that you can't adjust it with a screwdriver - needle-nose pliers, perhaps. No main metering rods, either. Correct me if I am wrong, but wouldn't the absense of the main metering rods just let the engine flood itself out? Maybe I am mistaken in my thinking, and this is really the way the carter is set up? If not, are these components available individually without buying a parts carb?
I am new to the QuadraJet, so any help that you can offer is going to be greatly appreciated... I am dying to hear the rumble of the V8 again!
Thanks!
Jeff
