Attached to my 66 brake light switch are two black wires (one to each terminal) in addition to the orange power feed and the white wire. These black wires go to a "thing" that looks like a big firecracker with one wire coming out of each end. This "thing" is fastened to the clutch/brake support assembly. What is it and what does it do? As one would expect it does not show up on the sorry GM wiring diagram. Thanks for the information.
It is a capacitor (condensor) installed to soak up voltage transients preventing radio static when the brake lights go on/off. Like most caps, it is correctly located in the U69 optional radio section of the AIM rather than the basic wiring diagram.
