    67 Rallye wheels

    I have a few questions regarding 1967 Rallye wheels;

    1. What is the difference in the large DC and small DC letters stamped into the wheel beside the valve stem hole (other than the obvious character size)?

    2. What is the preferred method of restoring and refinishing these wheels? Sandblast, chemical stripping, painting vs. powder coating? If powder coating is preferred, how close does the silver powder color match the original color?

    3. Tire question: I have two sets of redline radials, a new set of Cokers and an almost new set of Mastercrafts. Does anyone have any experience with both brands, and if so, which is preferred? The red stripe seems to be crisper on the Cokers.

    As always, thanks in advance for your help.

    Re: 67 Rallye wheels

    I think the large DC is correct for 1967.

    I had my 67 Rally wheels sandblasted and then I painted them using paint from OEM Paints (first semigloss black all over then Argent Silver #1120 (no green tint for 1967) with overspray through the wheel holes. They came out great.

    With respect to tires, up until a year ago the Coker Firestone redline was not completely correct for judging because it was a "Firestone Deluxe Champion" instead of a "Firestone Super Sport." I think that has been fixed now. I used the Kelsey Tire "Goodyear Power Cushion" redline and it judges well.
