As I made my way through the rows of vendors, I noticed less and less original C1 and especially C2 parts this year. Most of the parts were for the C3 or later. Was it just me or did others feel the same way? Also, simple items like the Ballest Resistor, or Gas caps (original) were overpriced or just not available. Thanks to a fellow NCRS Member I was able to get my needed resistor, and did eventually find an original gas (tank) cap, but it took almost a day. One person was askig $150. for a gas cap.... In his dreams, I will use the repop if it came down to that. I guess with Ebay being used so much, that eventually the older OEM and NOS parts are drying up... Did anybody else feel this way?

What day were you looking for these parts? Early Friday morning I found a near perfect, original C2 4-speed center council for $225, an NOS pair of 65/66 big block hood rain shields for $60, a perfect C2 right side convertible wing window frame with dated glass for $45 and a correct NOS Tung-Sol flasher for my '65 for $20. The guy I bought the center council from said I'd have probably got the center council cheaper if I hadn't been wearing my NCRS shirt, I don't understand guys like that.
I did also notice that there were far more C3 parts than C2, and you really needed to dig to find some of the parts you were looking for. I found the center council sticking out from under the back on a C2 that was setting on a trailer piled with a bunch of other fiberglass parts, sometimes you just have to go digging. I looked at other wing vent windows in worse condition than the one I bought and with no glass and they were asking $150 per side for junk! The earlier you get there the better chance you have of finding what you are looking for.
I must admit that EBay is a great selling tool, I sold all of my fathers collection of C2 parts and got what I thought were fare prices and didn't have to leave the house. This was my first time attending the Carlisle event, it reminded me of the "real" Bloomington meet back in the late 70's and early 80's. I've been to the St. Charles meet three times, but I doubt I'll go again after attending Carlisle, it was a great time!

Collin,
I went Thursday and Saturday. Got a few small C-1 parts, but noticed the same as you did (with the exception of 56s, which seemed to turn out for the 50th). Less in the way of C-1. One vendor wanted $650 for a 56-57 clock I need! His rationale was "its probably the only one in the show." And I believe that was true. But, I bet he took it back home at that price.
Even in the fun field, there weren't as many C-1's and C-2's as have been there in recent years. My thinking is that many of the early years are unfortunatly no longer "drivers", and therefore won't be driven to the show.
Regardless, the show was great in my opinion. Spent a lot of time looking at the '56s there (50th anniversary tent and elsewhere) and talking with friendly owners. I visited the NCRS display (btw - nice Penske L88 display!.) The vendors I encountered were helpful and friendly. Well worth the 266 mile round trip each day for me. Hopefully I can attend next year, for about my 20th (?) time or so. And, maybe I will bring my '57 for it's 50th.

C-1 parts are cyclical at Carlisle. Go through a few dry years and suddenly the heavens open up. Then there was the 20K gas tank.
Ebay, rain forecast, gas prices, vendors with computers instead of parts and sharks with cell phones picking up early deals to flip at higher prices make Corvette Carlisle different these days. However, it is the only game in town!
Enjoyed seeing the original copper 57 with the faded, maroon? paint.- Top

Collin, To find the C2 parts at the shows you must arrive during show set-up as that is when the serious vultures are there. I have spotters that bring me all kind of stuff early Thursday morning at Carlisle. By Thursday after noon the parts are pretty well picked over. The guys practically run around the place and some work in teams. I always tell my friends if they want a chance at a bargain go to Corvette Carlisle when the vendors are setting up and go toSpring and Fall Carlisle but they seldom listen. Meanwhile I go to numerous shows and the C2 stuff is drying up fast. Both of us are about 10 years late in finding the good NOS stuff unless money is no object. John D.- Top

Re: C2 and C1 Parts at Carlisle...was it just me
I had a whole pickup truck full of '67 used parts that I was selling Friday morning at Carlisle. Mostly big stuff like sidepipes and covers, radiator support, used door panels, front bumpers. I setup at 7:30 AM and by 12 noon I had sold everything.
I think being located by the front entrance gates help the seller and in the early morning when it's still cool, buyers have money and are ready to spend. I had a set of four repro '67 bolt on wheels with redline tires mounted on them and I hadn't even parked my truck in my spaces and there was a guy who came up to me with cash and bought them. Made $1400 in my first 5 minutes there. PT- Top
