    63 valve cover decals

Now that I solved the cookie problem I have a trivia question.
63 valve cover decals-360 HP. I see three variations of them.
    1. Printed in USA
    2. Printed in U.S.A.
    3. no mention of printed in USA.
What' the real deal on these decals. Thanks again, John DeGregory #2855

      Re: 63 valve cover decals

Rick, Yes all these variations are old water soluable. I used to buy 63 parts big time back in the 70's and early 80's and then got out of them and just worked on my usual job. Now with the resto of my 63 that I have owned forever I dug out old stuff laying around in cigar boxes (used to smoke) So I found these decals and gave them to my restorer and he said to me, "do you know you have several variations of decals". I said that figures as I have several variations of just about every part on the car. I guess that is what makes it fun provided that my posts don't cause harm to someone. I never have meant any of my posts to harm Carlton in any way. But it seems that some of my questions have upset the troops as my questions were old hat. My problem is that I don't go back into the archives because it is not easy to use for me. But if I had done so it would have eliminated half the dumb questions I asked for. Sorry to vent on you Rick. Yes the decals were the old school ones. Not the current thick mylar ones. On the other hand are there any new decals being made that are correct? Thank, John DeGregory

Re: 63 valve decals, see Noland

Looking at Noland's book on page 55 there is a picture of decal with "PRINTED IN U.S.A."

Also looked at some 63 prototype assembly line, however unable to pull out the "PRINTED IN . . " to verify what was there, not enough detail in the photo.

Unable to find any 63 photo of the cover, however some one should have some old FI pictures of a 63 so you can verify.
PS, remeber Noland's book was published in the 80's (I believe) so it too will not give you the final answer.

Do you have any 63 Corvette News -- would expect they had something on the new FI unit.

          Good Luck
          Alan

Re: 63 valve decals, see Noland

Alan, I don't have any Corvette News that old. Believe my oldest issue is late 64. I also looked in Nolands book and could come to a conclusion. In the olden days printed in U.S.A. was not as much as a concern on parts as it is today.
I have seen more pics with nothing on them but 360 HP than I have with some form of Printed...... Thanks, John D.

              Re: 63 valve cover decals

Bob, The later 66 decals that I have seen are just like the ones you bought from LI. Since I am into valve covers this much I have learned. My question is on the 63 decals. I have learned thru emails recently from original cars that the decals DO NOT contain made in USA. Course it makes you wonder as those things fell off pretty fast when the car was new. Thanks, John
