Were Wittek dated hose clamps used on other makes of cars? Were there any notable differences or were they univeral?

    Thanks,
    Scott

I have found them in the salvage yard on smog systems on other makes. In other locations rust has claimed lots of them.

It's good to know that there are other salvage yarders out there. When the weather here in Texas gets decent I'll be hitting them again. I have seen and pulled old radiator caps, dated hose clamps, loads of T-3s, color banded fuses, Protect-O-Plates, horns, etc.
I kind of figured that dated hose clamps were rather common to automobiles other than Corvette.

That and those *%#! fire ants. I got into a bed of those boogers earlier this year and if anyone was watching me from afar they would have thought I found a treasure trove of parts from dancing around like that. I was doing the salvage yard stomp. Weeds, too. I bring knee pads to guard against glass and metal when I pull headlights, door jamb switches, and fuses. Vinyl gloves are useful, too. And I don't dare look under seats for fear of what might be staring back.

What is weird about fire ants is that they don't seem to start bighting you untill about 20 or more are crawled up your leg. Then, they let loose with everything they got.

Wish I could go with you. I used to have a yard or two to go to but that changed. I need to try and find some. I used to get tons of stuff out of cars and the junk yard people would laugh at me. I laughed all he way to the bank.

            Happy hunting, Terry

I learned that fire ants react to nerve endings. The first bite causes the nerve endings to react and the rest of the fire ants react in unison to that.

I have found that on farm to market roads and rural routes some older salvage yards still exist. Almost every small town has one tucked away somewhere. On a recent trip to Wichita Falls I saw a salvage yard that had no vehicle no later than the '60s and right up the road were hundreds of old, vintage tractors and farm implements in a fenced area. Outside of Graham, Texas off of a highway is a place that has rows of old vehicles and farm equipment ranging from the '30s to the '60s. I carry binoculars and a digital camera.

Do you usually go by yourself or take someone??

Are you on the road a lot?

Although I am a retiree I don't travel that much but the routes I take are usually through smaller cities and towns, usually not interstates. I usually go solo as I am not held to anyone's schedule but my own. There is a MOPAR nut who wants to go with me and so far it's been too hot. Hard to focus when I'm staggering from heat exhaustion and my tongues sticking out. I probably need to take my wagon and a small cooler.
