Can anyone give me the information to decode the date code on a '54 - '56 Corvette generator ? Thanks.

Date code sequence is XYZZ where X=last digit of year, Y= alpha month of mfgr (A= Jan), and ZZ= digits of day of month. Example:

4E18 translates to 1954, Eth month (May) and 18th day of the month or May 18t, 1954

William, Note also that these years will all have different part numbers. The 1954 part, along with only a handfull of 55's, is 6 volt. Most 1955 and all 1956 are 12 volt. I believe, but I may get corrected on this, that the 1954 part number is 1102793, the 1955 part number is 1102025 (12v) and the 1956 part number (also used on certain other Corvettes through 1961) is 1102043. This number will be stamped on the same tag as the date.
