The archives say a '61 plug has the F-C head markings, but what should the '58 oil plug head have for markings? Can't seem to find a picture or description for such a small item. Thanks in advance. Steve

Re: c1 oil pan plug
There were multiple qualified suppliers for this part. Factory original pan plugs I've pulled from various scrap yard oil pans over the years included the following head marks:
(1) Circle-A (most common)
(2) TR
(3) F-C
(4) L
I believe the 'correct' headmark is whatever was in the inventory bin on the line the day that particular car was assembled and pulled by random chance...- Top

Re: c1 oil pan plug
Call me 'irresponsible', but my take on fastener headmarks is this:
If the JG book doesn't specifically call out allowable alternatives (note: some JG's crawfish here by saying things like "Known original suppliers include"), then any recognized supplier to GM from the era works for me!
Further, yes, I've seen the four different head marks I mentioned used on pans across a wide range of time.- Top

Re: c1 oil pan plug
I've said it a million times also about LOGOS being different on the same part ( GM had more then ONE supplier) again that's why you find different logos on oil drain plugs and many other parts. Why! You say ? Because that was the way GM could determine which company made the part so they could go back to that company and get it fixed . Simple!!- Top

Re: c1 oil pan plug
With the high price these plugs are commanding on ebay you would have thought they would have been reproed by now with a correct logo. Can't be that hard. Should have a 1000 made and retire. See them as high as 85.00 and up. Hard to believe. John- Top
