My dash light fuse blows out ramdomly when I hit a heavy bump. I assume a wire is shorting somewhere?? Where does one start looking or is there a logical sequence? I have replaced the fuse several times and got under the dash and tried to "shake" wires.

Re: 62 Dash Light Short??
Without looking at a wiring diagram I believe that circuit has a half dozen or more small grey wires all in parallel. There is also a wire on the same circuit that runs to the radio if so equiped. Another source of problem could be in the light switch, or the rheostat which feeds the dash lights. That's probably where I'd start. If you don't find something, you may have to pull the cluster out and unwrap the harness back to the junction of these wires and look for a bare spot. However, I really suspect it may be the switch. I'll try to look at a wiring diagram later and see if I have any better ideas.- Top

Re: 62 Dash Light Short??
As mentioned check out your wiring diagrams if your have a book. Sounds like you have a wire or wires going to ground. Did you change anything under that area, like a bulb lately. Check all your connections in that circuit visually and make sure they aren't touching each other and are attached properly. Usually something like this if your lucky has to do with something you worked on in that area last.Do you know how to use a multimeter? If so that will help if you want to check out your circuits one by one and the Light switch assy. Good Luck,GRR#33570.- Top
