    '64 Turn Signal Flasher Capacitor

How does the capacitor attach to the blue flasher piece?
Do the 2 prongs on the capacitor fold onto the prongs of the flasher to become one assembly?
And why does the hood release cable rest onto the capacitor when installed into the fuse box?
The hood release cable cannot go any higher to avoid this condition.

    Greg------

The contacts ("prongs") of the capacitor basically fit over ("piggy-back") the contacts on the flasher. These then insert into the wiring harness connector. Nothing should be "folded over".

Re: '64 Turn Signal Flasher Capacitor

Flasher module was only installed in the fuse block in 1963. On later mid year cars it was moved to a separate dash harness branch and physically mounted in a clip screwed to the LH side of the center console.

Moving the flasher out of the fuse block did two things: (1) physically located the flasher closer to the driver's ear for audible recognition and (2) avoided the clearance problem you mention.

Check your copy of the '64 AIM book (Section 12) to see a pictorial of the proper mounting location for the flasher...

        Jack,

Check the AIM section U69 upper left diagram.
The flasher and the Capacitor both are mounted into the fuse block. Revision date 4/24/64.My car is an April build date, which would apply.
However there is the hood cable that rests on the Capacitor and I do not know why.
Hood Cable can only be in one location thru the firewall.
        Any suggestions?

        Greg

Yep, you're right; I'm wrong...the TS flasher moved from the fuse block to the side of the center console in '65. It was the radio capacitor that changed position/configuration in '63/64 with the cap being off the flasher for U65 radios in '63 and on the flasher for U69 radios and the addition of the insulating fische paper added to the flasher cap in '64...
